Tip #1: Are you looking at ways to save money on abrasives, without sacrificing abrasive quality while also reducing the strain on your angle grinder?

The answer is to use 115mm (4 1/2″) flap discs on your 125mm (5″) machine. They have the same centre hole size of 22.2mm but have a similar amount of abrasive material on them for a cheaper price.

We have many great deals on 115mm flap discs such as the PLANTEX or Zircopur range. Check them out here at Bobbie’s Bargain Box HERE.

Tip #2: Trim your flap discs to get the maximum life out of them.

This can only be done with Eisenblaetter flap discs as it is the only brand that does not use fibre glass in the whole range of flap discs.

To find out the difference between natural fibre and fibre glass backing we have created an infographic below which shows the difference between them. To trim the easiest way is to get an old cutoff of approx 6mm thick steel, put it in a vice and slowly grind the backing back from the outer edge in (approx. 5mm at a time). The discs are also self trimming during normal use too.

Tip #3: FIX Cool Top Flap discs

The FIX COOL TOP flap discs can be used to practically 100% of its abrasive cloth. Our original backing pad securely fastens a flap disc or any other disc of the FIX range onto the machine without the need for clamping nuts. This is achieved through our patented centre pin which ensures that the grinding disc is perfectly centred and guarantees 100% perfect rotation and low vibration levels.

Another bonus of using these discs is when the disc is starting to wear you can then attach it to a smaller sized backing pad to use up the rest of the disc, essentially trimming the backing.
