Easily transform used commercial kitchen equipment and much more.

In this blog post we will be highlighting cost effective methods to clean and bring new life to used equipment or equipment that has been in the elements and needs refurbishment.

The POLY PTX Clean wheel is ideal for this purpose as it removes rust, dirt, paint and other contaminents without removing the base material. It leaves a nice, bright finish due to the silicon carbide abrasive and nylon web structure.

What kind of finish does the clean wheel leave?

Due to its dimensions it will provide a linear finish that is bright. It is important to put the speed on ‘D’ and let the wheel do the work. Once the contaminents are removed longer passes on the surface help to blend the finish together as seen below:

How can I enhance this finish after the workpiece is clean?

The POLY PTX Fleece wheel puts in a final no.4 linear finish. The wheel demonstrated is the grit 80 fleece wheel. The coarser the fleece wheel, the stronger the linear pattern, the finer fleece wheels make the surface more of a satin finish which is more dull but with less defined linear pattern.

How to remove scratches from a stainless steel bench?

This is very tricky as you have to make sure you have enough material to work with. If the metal is too thin it simply cannot be done. You need to start with a POLY PTX 80 Grit mix wheel, if this is too fine you would need to go to a 120 grit zirconium sleeve or 80 grit zirconium sleeve. Any coarser and it will be a very long and difficult process to bring the finish back.

Keep the process simple and avoid using coarse abrasives. As this would add alot of work to the project.
